Wow!! Day 30 sure looks good at the top of this post!!! I made it!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! I can now mark this off my Bucket List! It has not been easy and has not brought the results I was hoping for, but it definitely was challenging and feels very rewarding to have accomplished this goal without cheating!! A few thoughts I have had along the way:
- Planning meals without sugar is actually easier than it sounds.
- Not having my morning coffee makes me grumpy!
- Substituting nuts for a ‘treat’ or snack is a BAD idea (unless you need to fumigate your house or get rid of unwanted visitors)
- Not having my morning coffee makes me grumpy!
- You can feel very satisfied and full with a wide variety of food and stay within the parameters of a Paleo(lithic) diet.
- Not having my morning coffee makes me grumpy!
- My body throws temper tantrums when it doesn’t get what it wants that make my 2 yr old look agreeable.
- Not having my morning coffee makes me grumpy!
- Life without bread IS possible.
- Not having my morning coffee makes me grumpy!
Overall, it has been a positive experience but one I don’t wish to repeat again until maybe next year. I have decided to keep some of the restrictions for a few more weeks such as no grain, no dairy and no processed food. I am contemplating even leaving out sugar for another week or two, or at least limit the amount to only sweetener in my tea or coffee. I tried a small cup of black coffee this morning but my tummy did not respond well (sigh), so I will need to delay having that dreamed-of cup of coffee for another couple of weeks (double sigh). I am going to test a cup of tea tomorrow morning to see how my body responds. Hopefully that will be a little less acidic and more tolerable.
For breakfast today, I made the family pancakes, eggs and bacon. I omitted the pancakes and added a banana to my plate. I may continue this daily special for a while longer but maybe add a sugar-free, coconut flour blueberry muffin. I have some in the freezer now that have been waiting 30 long days to be eaten! I hope they still taste good!
Lunch consisted of reheated butternut squash with a chicken pumpkin curry slider and side salad.
Dinner was some paleo spaghetti with homemade pasta sauce over zucchini noodles. I added a side of lima beans, which I haven’t eaten in ages but really enjoyed. I am excited to report that my kids inhaled the spaghetti tonight which was amazing since they typically are reluctant to eat dinners that don’t consist of pizza or chicken nuggets.
I am pleased to say that I am going to continue my personal blog but not report everything I put into my mouth in a day. I’m not sure yet what I will write about but want to continue flexing my writing skills which will help me write for our business blog. I need to change the name of my blog but haven’t decided on anything yet.
For the last time…30 days done…0 days to go!!!!
